PCW and CPC SOFTWARE TO DOWNLOAD FOR FREE.

NOTE: In most cases, if your PCW or CPC is not fitted with a 3.5 inch drive, then there is no point to reading on!

Creative Technology Ltd have most generously placed all of their PCW Microdesign Programs, Fonts and Clip Art into the public domain and offered below are a number for you to download. As all of their programs are copy protected it may not be possible to offer these via the net, but I am working on it.

The following zip files will, when unzipped and transferred to a PCW, fit onto one side of a 180K disc.

MicroDesign 2 Program discs. MicroDesign 2 Extra Fonts Discs. MicroDesign 3 Program Library. MicroDesign 3 Tutorial. MicroDesign 3 Extra Fonts Discs. MicroDesign Parish Magazine Library Clip Art. Microdesign Maps Library. MicroDisplay 3. ProScan. The Electic Studio Software Collection.
Desk top publishing package plus the programs for the Light Pen and Video digitiser. Fleet Street Editor Plus
Desk top publishing package plus a graphics editor. Side A of program disc is copy protected. Poly Programs.
Word processing package with mailmerge. PYRADEV+
A very clever program as it copies almost any 3 inch 180K PCW disc, protected or not. Once this Zip file has been Unzipped and the files transferred to a 180K disc (only works with 180K discs) you will need to add the file J14CPM3.EMS from your CP/M Start-of-day disc. CP/M is still copyright so I can not supply as a download. This program will not copy Mirrorsoft's Tetris. The Professional Adventure Writing System.
Write adventure games with graphics with this program, PCW or CPC. ROTATE.
With this program you are able to rotate most types of ASCII files and print side-ways. PCW8256 / 8512.
SD Microsystems, owners of DGC Software, have most kindly placed MicroDraw and MicroChart (MicroDesign3 ad-on's) into the Public Domain but please note other DGC Software titles remain copyright.

MICROCHART.
Jonathan Erskine-Nartey has most kindly saved the SSA-1 and LP-1 (colour monitor only) system/program files from cassette to a Zip file to enable those with corrupt or lost cassettes to reverse the process.

SSA-1 System Files.

The following zip files will, when unzipped and transferred to a PCW or CPC, only fit onto a 720K disc.

Dimitrios Karalis has most graciously offered his CPC programs for free download, but copyright remains with him.

TOOLS.

MicroDesign 3 Extra Fonts Discs.
Mike Elliston has most generously placed his own design of MD3 fonts into the Public Domain.

Help files are included with these fonts.
ansible cpm exe Download any / all of the above, then Unzip using Winzip (click on the banner to obtain for free) or something similar.
Convert the files to CP/M using CPM.EXE (click on the banner to obtain for free) a MS DOS program or something similar. Alternatively you can copy the unzipped files to a 720K DOS disc and take this disc to your PCW and then convert the files to a PCW formatted disc using Moonstone's 2 in 1 or something similar --- and enjoy!
winzip 8.1

Amstrad portable models PPC512 and PPC640 System Discs.

Note: Due to file size limitations imposed by my Web Host I can not offer these discs but visit the following site and download from there .
PPC512/640 System discs.

Note: The readme file supplied with these disc images give the wrong information as it tells you to --- To make new copies of the system disks take two floppy disks that have been formatted to 720K (NOT! 1.44MB) and then give the command: FDCOPY DISKn.CFI A: where n is 1 or 2 and A: is the drive containing the 720K floppy disk --- the command details are wrong and the following should be used:- FDCOPY PPCDISKn.CFI A: in place of FDCOPY DISKn.CFI A:

Should anyone experience any problems with the contents or in transferring any of these files to the PCW or CPC just e-mail * ME * with the problem and I will see if I can come up with the solution.
